Darlene Snyder, Proprietor

Darlene Snyder, Owner Act Now Inc.Darlene left corporate America in 1994 and began working hand-in-hand with her daddy as minority owner of Act Now, Inc.  Darlene assumed sole ownership of Act Now, Inc. in 2008 as part of Don Ebie's (her father) succession plan for the family business.

While Don had a passion for product creation and sales, Darlene brought a strong business operations background to Act Now.  In her 25 plus years at the company, she has expanded Act Now's footprint beyond self-publishing and printing.  The company now offers graphic design, logo design and branding, business printing, custom apparel, wide format printing (banners, yard signs and other signage, decals, wall graphics, vehicle wraps  vehicle decals and lettering, etc.).  Act Now is also a full service distributor of Promotional Product items.  Darlene continues to bring the same boundless energy and enthusiasm to these exciting offerings that she did when these products were first introduced by Act Now.

At Act Now, Darlene institutes the strong processes, procedures and financial management required to run the day-to-day operations of a successful business. Darlene's experience in these facets of running a business came from her management roles in corporate America. Working as a programmer/analyst at Viar & Company in Alexandria, Viginia on projects for the Internal Revenue Service, Darlene was exposed to the magnitude of managing finances.  Working as the manager of the Technical Customer Support department for Intelligence Solutions, Inc. (now Lockheed Martin Desktop Solutions, Inc.) in Falls Church, Virginia taught Darlene about the importance of customer service. Her customer base were members of the United States House of Representatives and the United States Senate. Although Darlene is no longer visiting offices on Capitol Hill, she still extends this same focus on exemplary service to every customer she serves at Act Now, Inc.

Our Story

Act Now, Inc. was founded in 1982 by Don Ebie.  The purpose of Act Now grew out of Romans 12:2, “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” The idea of transformation gave birth to the Act Now name, an acrostic stating: Alternative Concepts Today Nurturing Our World.

Having always been an entrepreneur and a self-employed salesman, Don started the company after closing his Christian bookstore chain in Northeast Ohio.  While operating his bookstores, Don would periodically scratch down an inspirational verse on any piece of paper available, even napkins in a restaurant!  He began self-publishing his verses on pocket prayer cards and bookmarks.  He would create the product one day, travel throughout Ohio and neighboring states the next several days writing orders for his product, and then come home, produce, pack and ship the product.  He would repeat this cycle over and over as he grew his business.  Early on, Don added the Name Product Line; initially offering his Name Treasure Bookmarks, later adding Name Cards and other name product.  Over the years, Don added several lines of verse cards, bookmarks, Emblems of Faith, Share Your Faith Cards, and Money Tracts.  These items continue to be refreshed and offered through our Act Now Inspirations product line.

In 1992, to help fulfill this purpose, Don wrote perhaps his most popular, and certainly his most powerful verse, “The Nail”.  This verse card, with a nail attached, has sold hundreds of thousands of copies. Don later created other versions and product lines carrying the message of “The Nail”.  Because of the powerful message of love and salvation presented in “The Nail”, Darlene told people for years, “When my daddy is in heaven, he will be known as THE NAIL MAN”.

Our corporate logo includes the image of the globe.  This is because we are continuing the mission of nuturing our world in honor of THE NAIL MAN.
